Healing Journeys: A Grief Conscious

Israel Experience for Bereaved Parents

Led by Abby Leviss & Beth Segaloff

A journey of connection — to our people, our

land, our tradition, and ourselves

May 16-22, 2027

Healing Journeys: A Grief-Conscious Israel Experience is a deeply intentional retreat for parents who have lost a child, offering a rare opportunity to step outside isolation and into the presence of others who truly understand this kind of loss. Set against the spiritual and natural landscape of Israel, this experience brings together bereaved parents to share space, story, and silence—without the need to explain the depth of what they carry. With the guidance of a licensed grief therapist and the grounding presence of Jewish wisdom and ritual, participants are gently supported as they honor their children’s memory while exploring what it means to keep living. This is not about fixing grief or finding closure, but about being held within it—finding connection, resilience, and moments of meaning alongside others walking a similar path.

Abby Leviss – Healing Journeys Founder and Retreat Leader

For more than 20 years, I have worked in the nonprofit world supporting organizations connected to Israel, building programs that bring people together around shared purpose.

My path also includes deep personal loss—I am a bereaved mother, having lost my son Max at 9.5 months old in 2011. In the years since, I have come to understand the quiet space between grief and connection, where so many of us search for others who truly understand. Israel has been a meaningful part of my own healing, offering spiritual grounding, resilience, and a culture that makes room for both sorrow and strength. Through this retreat, I hope to create a space where that same sense of understanding and community can take root for others.

Beth Segaloff – Grief Therapist and Retreat Facilitator

Beth Segaloff is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, EMDR therapist, Reiki healer, and Registered Yoga Teacher with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals through grief, loss, and life's most difficult transitions.

As the founder of Tree of Life Center in Fairfield, CT, Beth brings a holistic approach to her work,  weaving together therapy, movement, breathwork, and healing to create spaces where people feel truly seen, supported, and less alone. She holds a specialty certification in Grief Yoga® and has led groups, workshops, and retreats for adults navigating profound loss.

Beth's own life experiences have shaped her deep commitment to this work. She believes that while we cannot change our past, we can transform our relationship with it, and that healing happens in community.
